Which Soap and Oil to use

In general most babies have normal skin. In my opinion all soaps (costliest to the cheapest) and oil (coconut oil to olive oil) are the same. Traditionally different products are used in different parts of India. Usually with the same result - a happy healthy baby.

It's the massage or the daily bathing that is more important.

I suggest that it is preferable for parents (mum and dad) to do the massage and give the bath rather than other individuals ( e.g. grandparents or maids).

Good health

Factors contributing to good health are regular exercise, proper nutrition, stress reduction and weight management.

The focus seems to be on admission to a good “school” and getting good “rankings/grades” while overlooking the other yardsticks for a successful future.

It is increasingly recognized that young adults are having heart attacks, diabetes etc in their “20’s”.

To prevent this, we recommend lifestyle changes in early childhood, so they become lifetime habits.

The changes are to be adopted by the whole family and not the child only.

Swimming, jogging, playing badminton etc as a family should improve yours and your child’s future.

Loose stools are concerning if there is
•Blood in the stools
•Recurrent vomiting
•Stomach Pain
•Large volumes of stools
•Large numbers of stools

Increased number of semi solid stools are not worrying.

Watery diarrhea is usually due to a viral infection.

No need for ORS, if child looks well and is passing urine.

Give Curd / Butter milk, even if child has a cold / cough

Please consult a doctor when concerned or if
•Stools are large volume and occurring very frequently (7-10 times)
•Child is feeling weak or has cold hands and feet
•Urine output is less
•Child looks unwell

Ice cream

Eating Ice cream does not cause cold and cough.

So NO need to stop children from eating it.

Milk being the major ingredient, Ice cream is rich in Calcium, Phosphate and Protein. This Calcium is of the type which can be easily absorbed by the body.

Common cold is caused by viruses.

Many parents report that their children develop cough and cold on eating ice cream or having a cold drink. This is mere coincidence.

So, go ahead and have an ice cream with your kid. This will bring back the magic to your kids childhood.

Pediasure is for sick individuals. Those who have difficulty in taking or digesting normal food. It is not for “picky” eaters.

Many parents and professional colleagues have a certain target weight for the child, in mind.

So Pediasure is given with the belief that the child will take it and then eat a normal meal as well. Unfortunately that is not true.

A human body can only take a certain number of calories. If it is supplied as Pediasure then the normal diet won’t be eaten.

So the choice is yours. Either home cooked food or Pediasure.
